Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on my first appointment?

All our consultations start with an in depth case history. This comprehensive overview explores elements of your medical and injury history along with broader aspects of general health that may be contributing to any pain or problems you may be experiencing. This is followed by a detailed examination that seeks to get to the underlying cause of what may be causing any issues and is the most important step in coming to a diagnosis.

Will I receive treatment on my first appointment?

During our ‘1hr New Patient’ consultations we always endeavour to start treatment on the first consultation, if safe and appropriate to do so. This aims to start your journey back to health asap. Our ‘30 mins New Patient’ consultations are perfect for those short on time but keen to get a diagnosis and some advice quickly. Be advised that due to the shorter nature of the consultation it may not always be possible to start treatment during this consultation. We always aim to get patients back as soon as possible to start a course of treatment.

Will I get any advice and guidance to follow?

Absolutely! We aim to give patients a really clear idea of what we’re dealing with in the form of a diagnosis along with very clear advice on things to do, things to avoid or be mindful of as well as advice on exercise.

What should I wear for consultations?

During both examination and treatment it may be necessary to get you moving to assess range of movements, perform some tests and for direct access to an area to assess for swelling and bruising etc. Patients are encouraged to wear whatever they are comfortable in but loose fitting clothes, shorts and gym kit is often a comfortable choice for patients.

Where are OxHealth Clinics located?

Both our clinics are located in central locations in Marylebone and Oxford. Both have great links to public transport and are clearly signposted.

Do I need to be referred by my GP first?

You do not need direct referral from a GP and can book straight in with us. This often saves patients a lot of time. We are more than happy to take any referral from any clinicians and consultants you may be under the care of and would be more than happy to correspond with GP’s and consultants on your behalf. We are also happy to refer patients on for imaging and refer on if we feel more appropriate follow up is needed.

Can I bring a chaperone?

We welcome patients bringing chaperones as there can often be a lot of information to process and this may be easier with a family member or friend present. Be advised that for patients aged under 16 an appropriate adult (18+) is required.

What is your cancellation policy?

Be advised that we require at least 24 hours cancellation notice when cancelling any appointment. Failure to cancel with 24hrs notice prior to an appointment will incur full fee being charged. We fully appreciate that life events and illness can however happen and will always work with patients to accommodate these however appreciate your understanding of our cancellation fee.
